要約等
The purpose of this study was to analyze reflective records written by fourth−year dental students after lectures and to identify differences between high− and low−achieving students, thereby providing educational implications. The participants were 193 students who attended complete denture prosthodontics lectures and took the regular examinations between 2022 and 2024. Based on examination results, the top 25% (n=47) of students were classified as the high−achievement group and the bottom 25% (n=47) of students as the low−achievement group. Submission status, word count, use of technical terms, lexical diversity, abstract terms, and causal expressions were compared between the groups. The high−achievement group consistently maintained a submission rate above 80%, while the rate in the low− achievement group declined from 93.62% at the first lecture to below 63.83% by the end. The high−achievement group also wrote longer records, and their mean frequency, diversity, and ratio of technical terms were significantly higher than those of the low−achievement group. Although lexical diversity appeared higher in the low−achievement group, this was likely an artifact of shorter text length. In contrast, the use of abstract terms and causal expressions was significantly greater in the high−achievement group. Frequently used abstract terms included “relationship” and “method,” while causal expressions such as “because” and “therefore” were characteristic of the high−achievement group. These findings suggest that high−achieving students tend to summarize lecture content with more accurate technical terminology and logical reasoning. From an educational perspective, providing early support and guidance for students with low submission rates or insufficient content may help establish learning habits and improve learning outcomes.
