- This report describes the case of a 27−year−old male patient with a history of unilateral cleft lip and palate, presenting with skeletal Class III malocclusion and facial asymmetry, and treated with surgical orthodontic treatment involving one−jaw surgery. Although two−jaw surgery was considered the ideal approach, one−jaw surgery was selected because of previous bone grafting and the presence of scar tissue. Given the constraints of mandibular osteotomy alone approach, the treatment objectives of orthognathic surgery were defined with skeletal correction as the highest priority. This approach enabled improvement of both skeletal asymmetry and the cant of the occlusal plane. The treatment strategy and clinical outcomes of surgical orthodontic intervention for this case are presented.
