• Note (General): 2011年東北地方太平洋沖地震から1ヶ月後に発生した福島県浜通りの地震では、それまで地質断層であるという見解もあった正断層が活動しており、地殻変動の規則性、継続性に基づく地質環境の長期予測の観点からは、地層断層の再活動が地層処分のサイト選定や安全評価に及ぼす影響を検討しておく必要がある。そこで筆者らは、海溝型地震などによる地殻応力・歪の変化に伴い地質断層が再活動する可能性を評価する手法を構築する目的で、南海トラフ巨大地震の想定震源域の西端部に位置し、沿岸域に正断層の存在が知られている宮崎平野を対象とした事例研究を進めてきた。本報告書は、宮崎平野における主に川南断層の活動履歴や活動性を明らかにするための地形・地質調査および試料分析の内容を取りまとめたものである。; Changes of stress state due to the 2011 off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku Earthquake triggered normal displacements of faults that have not been regarded as active faults. In this study, geological survey for normal faults in coastal region was conducted in order to understand the mechanism of reactivation of inactive faults triggered by megathrust earthquakes. This report includes topographical and geological data obtained by field works in and around the Kawaminami Fault in northern margin of the Miyazaki Plain, with results of microscopic examination, analyses of X-ray diffraction and particle size distribution for clayey samples, analyses of tephra and plant opal, and radiocarbon dating.
