• 要約等: This paper describes the background of the progress of re-refined base oil (RRBO) obtained from used lubricating oil, the utilization status of used lubricating oil, and the production capacity, manufacturing method, and quality of RRBO. One of the factors behind the recent progress in the use of RRBO is to cope with carbon neutrality for lubricating oil. In addition, when the utilization status of used lubricating oil was compared between Japan and Europe, it was found that the discharge ratio and recovery rate of used lubricating oil were similar in Japan and Europe, but while 65% of used lubricating oil was processed to manufacture RRBO in Europe, the production of RRBO in Japan was zero. The production capacity of RRBO is estimated to be about 5,000 metric tons per year worldwide, with the proportion of Group II being high in North America, while Group I was the majority in other regions.
