- Performance characteristics of the hydraulic coupling used as an automobile's clutch were investigated from a designer's view-point. The coupling is driven by a diesel engine and braked by a prony dynamometer. The starting characteristics were investigated particularly in detail. In this paper, the effects of the anti-drag baffle plats which prevent circulation flow of oil for lower r.p.m of the coupling and lessen the starting drag force on the car performance are mainly mentioned.
