一般注記The high-sensitivity submillimeter-wave spectrometer has been extended to cover the frequency range up to 720 GHz. Above 500 GHz a combination of Gunn oscillator sources and frequency multipliers is employed. A frequency synthesizer up to 26.5 GHz used to lock and scan the Gunn oscillator, to which frequency modulation or tone-burst modulation is applied via the synthesizer. The effective sensitivity in the 600 GHz region was examined using one of the isotopic species of OCS, 18O13CS in its natural abundance of about 21 ppm. The J=57-56 transition at 647.643GHz is observed with a S/N ratio of-. The sensitivity is discussed and an improvement of the sensitivity above GHz is proposed.
