一般注記Born carbide is one of the advanced ceramics and is being used in a wide range of applications (e.g. in control and measuring rods in nuclear reactors, abrasive instruments, thermal shields etc.). A promising method for sintering of such material is based on microwave heating using gyrotron radiation. Although this method has several rapid heat transfer and shorter processing tomes) its potential capabilities are not fully realized in practice. Moreover, in many practical situations it is difficult to find proper experimental conditions that prevent such undesirable phenomena as thermal runaway, formation of defects and deformations. The reason for this is the complex character of the coupling between the electromagnetic and thermal effects involved in the microwave heating through the local temperature dependence of both dielectric and thermophysical properties of treated material. In this paper we present our experimental equipment and numerical simulations carried out in order to investigate the basic relations and to optimize the progress.
