並列タイトル等A New Phase of Feminism in Italy : Rethinking Inter-Generational Succession in Women’s Movements
一般注記This paper considers the recent situation in Italy focusing on the relationship between generations. 40 years have passed since the ground swell of the “second wave” of feminism in the ’70s, and it is now being discussed how the movements should be updated, as gender equality has not been realized and many issues remain to be dealt with. In Japan a series of initiatives, such as conferences, documentary films and books, have been organized to commemorate and to make an archive of the feminist movements and gender studies of the older generation. The movements of the ‘70s are now being historicized. Recently in Italy a new wave of women’s movements has emerged and made an extraordinary upsurge, mobilizing over a million women in more than 230 cities. The movement named Se non ora quando? (If not now, when?), opposed the sexism of the then prime minister Berlusconi, and required the “dignity and freedom” of women in the political scene. Another important issue of the movement was opposition to femicide (Femminicidio). The movement successfully mobilized different generations, achieving the election of more than 30% women lawmakers in 2013, and in 2014 a cabinet in which half of the ministers were women. The movement could organize in particular women of the younger generation. The relationship between generations and the changes in the movements are examined, to serve as a reference for rethinking the possibility of the inter-generational succession of feminist movements.
