本研究では，色彩環境，特に青色環境が人の認知的機能や心理的反応，行動などへ影響を与えるのか否かを検証した。実験1では先行研究における認知課題成績を再検討したが，文字判断課題となぞなぞ課題での反応時間が赤色条件で短い傾向を示した。実験2では，系列位置学習を用いて記憶成績への色彩の影響を調べたが，色彩条件による成績の有意差は現れなかった。実験3では白色と青み，赤みのかかった照明光を用いて，ストループ課題と内田クレペリン検査を行った。しかし，照明条件による成績の一貫した違いは示されなかった。これらの実験結果は，巷で語られている「青色効果」を疑問視させるものである。
The present study examined whether the color environment, especially blue, influence human cognitive function, psychological response, or behavior. Experiment 1 tried to replicate the results in cognitive tasks reported in previous studies. Only Letter judgment task and Quiz task showed the better performance in red color condition. Experiment 2 investigated the effect of color on memory tasks using the serial-position learning. However, no significant difference in performance was observed consistently among the color conditions. Experiment 3 employed Stroop task and Kraepelin test. However, the systematic difference in performance was not shown over the conditions. These results raise a question whether the “blue effect” really exists that people often talk about.
