一般注記A design system for use in the preliminary design phase of winged space vehicles is described in this paper. Although there are many items which must be taken into account in designing such a vehicle, the present system mainly contains the analysis of sizing, weight properties, low speed and hypersonic aerodynamic characteristics. This is because the key factors which determine the vehicle configuration are a large angle of attack capability at hypersonic speed and a moderate lift-drag ratio at low speed or during landing. Sub-programs in the system are those for generation of vehicle configuration and automatic paneling of body surface, hypersonic aerodynamics by the Newtonean flow approximation, low speed aerodynamics by the Boundary Integral Method, some other sub-systems for I/O and the graphic display of the results. The data handling between each sub-program is made by the designer with the Time Sharing System and an inter-active approach for designing such a vehicle is accomplished by the system. Some results obtained through the design of M-type winged space vehicles, recently planned by ISAS, are presented.
