一般注記A rarefied-gas numerical wind tunnel is being developed in order to simulated the rarefied gas flows around space vehicles such as the AOTV and the space plane. The null-collision (NC) technique, which Koura recently introduced into the direct-simulation Monte Carlo method, is used. The NC technique overcomes the principal fault in the time-counter (TC) technique and the difficulties in the collision-frequency (CF) technique and, moreover, the computation time required for the NC technique is comparable to that for the TC technique. The elastic collisions between molecules are taken to be the energy-dependent hard sphere model. The gas-surface interactions are taken to be the Maxwell reflection model. It is confirmed that thc numerical wind tunnel (research codes) works well for two-dimensional and axially symmetric bodies.
