一般注記A constant-temperature hot-wire anemometer system with the long term signal integrators is developed by applying integrated-circuit modules. The system is designed for use in turbulent flows with strong intermittency. The anemometer output and its square are integrated for a reasonably long period of the order of several tens of seconds to produce the mean as well as the mean-square of the anemometer output. From these results mean velocities and true root-mean-square velocity fluctuations of turbulent flows are obtained. The anemometer response to square-wave voltage inputs is analyzed and formula which predicts the hot-wire frequency-response to fluctuating flows is worked out. The integrators are calibrated for both D.C. and A.C. inputs. As an example of turbulence measurements, the transitional boundary layer developed along a test-section side-wall of the smoke-wind-tunnel of NAL is surveyed. The results are in fair agreement with the published results for transitional boundary layer along flat plates.
