一般注記This paper describes an active nutation control method for an asymmetric spinning satellite using an axial gas jet and an angular rate sensor. In this method, a constant jet thrust is continuously applied during an entire spin period, thereby preventing the angular momentum of the satellite from changing, while the initial nutation is arbitrarily controlled by selective jet firing timing. The nutational behavior of both stable and unstable asymmetric satellites is analized through transforming the nutational motion into an eccentric anomaly expression.Theoretically, this transformation makes possible elimination of the asymmetry of the satellite and determination of optimum jet firing timing. Finally, hardware simulation results using an air-bearing table were employed to verify the method. A gas rate sensor was utilized as the angular rate sensor in this experiment.
