一般注記The Fringe Reconstructer is an optical spatial filtering system with coherent light. Employment of the optical system makes it possible to obtain the two field moire fringe patterns required for complete determination of the state of strain on a plane. Moreover, the optical system improves fringe pattern contrast. This paper describes the method for strain analysis with the optical system, along with experiments demonstrating the method. The experiments were conducted on bending beams of alminium alloy, a strip of epoxy resin, with circular notch, under tension, strips of epoxy resin with viscoelastic behavior under tension and polyester films under tension. 500 1/in and 250 1/in crossed gratings were used for the experiments. A comparison of the experimental results on bending beams, with strain measured by strain gauge and theoretical values, confirmed that the method is applicable to quantitative strain analysis, if strain is above 0.1%. The results for a strip with circular notch under tension and viscoelastic materials or films under tension, indicate that the method can also be applied for analysis of strain distribution in the neighborhood of the notch and measurement of mechanical properties of viscoelastic meterials and thin materials as a film.
