一般注記This paper describes the study of the creep deflection measurements for polymer strips by the Moire method. The mechanical properties of polymer are normally dependent on temperature and time. The out-of-plane deformation of the materials, such as deflection caused by buckling, also are greatly affected by temperature and time. Especially, in the range above the glass transition temperature of the materials the stiffnesses decrease and the deformation shows considerable viscoelastic behaviour. Deflection analysis with Moire method in this paper is carried out by the following process. The reference gratings are projected on the reference surface and the specimen surface subjected to deformation, then the grantings on those surfaces are recorded on film. Moire fringe patterns are observed by inserting the film into an optical spatial filtering system. The fringe patterns are formed by differences in pitch of the gratings which depend on out-of-plane deformation of the specimens. The deflections are analysed from the fringe patterns. The loading attachment in the furnace and the techniques of projecting and taking photographs, which combined with the strobo flash light source and motor drive camera unit, were used for the experiment in the study. The Moire method with the techniques described above were applied to measure the deflections caused by buckling of epoxy resin strips with fixed ends under compression. The glass transition temperature of the resin was 32C. The experiments were carried out at 15C(room temperature), 20C, 40C and 60C. A comparison of the results at room temperature, with deflections measured by a dial gauge, confirmed that the Moire method was applicable to deflection measurements if the deflections were above 0.5mm. Moreover, the viscoelastic behaviour for deflection of epoxy resin strips at 20C, 40C and 60C were clarified by the results of the experiments in each temperature range.
