一般注記Studies have been conducted to determine experimentally the reaction characteristics of monolithic palladium and platinum/palladium catalysts for perfectly premixed mixtures of propane/air and methane/air. The reactor is composed of five 2.5-cm-long Pd catalyst elements or four 3.8-cm-long Pt/Pd catalyst elements. Gas sampling is made between the catalysts to determine the combustion efficiency (conversion) and the levels of nitrogen oxides emissions for inlet mixture temperatures from 350 to 650C. The maximum reactor outlet gas temperature is limited to around 1100C. Propane/air mixtures initiate reacion at lower temperatures than methane/air mixures, and result in higher combustion efficiencies. The Pd catalysts are found to be more active than the Pt/Pd catalysts. The combustion efficiency data obtained at different reference velocities reveal that combustion efficiency can be correlated to the residence time. The conditions for 99% combustion efficiency are given as a function of inlet mixture temperaturs, equivalence ratio, and reference velocity. Nitrogen oxides emissions are less than 1 ppm for all test conditions. Preliminary results of pressure loss measurements are described in this paper.
