一般注記Emissions from the nitrogen plasma flows produced in an arc-heated low-density wind tunnel were analyzed spectroscopically. The prominent emitters were identified as N+2 first negative, N2 second positive and N2 first positive systems. By measuring the rotational and vibrational intensity distributions in some bands of the N+2 first negative system, temperatures in the plenum chamber were determined to be in the range between 5,500 and 6,900 K. Intensity distributions in the N2 first positive system seemed to be consistent with these temperatures. Molecular state populations of N2 and N+2 showed deviations from those expected from LTE relations. In the low density test section flows, vibrational temperatures determined by the N+2 first negative system bands showed large difference from rotational temperatures. The N2 first positive system also showed non-equilibrium intensity distribution, which resembled those found in Lewis-Rayleigh afterglows. The possible excitation-emission mechanisms of these band-systems in the low density plasma flows are discussed.
