一般注記A system of two coupled two-dimensional heat conduction equations for multi-layered cylindrical shells, whose layers are in perfect thermal contact, is formulated as a first approximation, consistent with the Kirchhoff-Love hypothesis in the theory of shells. This system of equations is deduced from the exact three-dimensional heat conduction equation, by expanding the temperature function into an infinite series of Legendre polynomials with respect to the thickness coordinate of each layer. Some analytical examples of heat conduction problems are then given for the special cases where the resulting heat conduction equations can be decoupled.
