研究成果の概要 (和文) : 本研究は、消費者行動研究における主要な概念である「自己概念」に注目し、それが消費行動でいかなる役割を演じるかについて、特に国際比較という視点から、複数の消費者間の関係性との関わりの中で探索的に明らかにすることを目的とした。具体的には、日本とフランスという文化的に異なる国での「母親と娘」という関係性に焦点を当て、その特異性が彼女たちの購買前行動や購買意思決定、購買後の消費行動といった局面にいかなる影響を及ぼすのかについて、サーベイや実験、インタビューや観察、経験調査などの異なる複数の手法を組み合わせたアプローチにより収集されたさまざまな経験データの分析・解釈を通じて明らかにすることを目指した。
研究成果の概要 (英文) : This research introducese a social comparison framework to study the mechanisms univerlying mothers' sharing practices with their adolescent daughters in two national cultures: Japan, a collectivistic national culture, and France, an individualistic culture. Using an interpretive approach, thi
s study shows that social comparison processes and their motives differ across cultures, reflecting differences between individualistic and collectivist societies. The interpersonal comparison process predominates in France, wheres an intergroup are the primary motives for mothers' social comparisons in individualistic cultures, wheres self-enhancement is more valued in collectivist countries.
