一般注記Though limited to a small subset of European languages, this study is the first comprehensive, diachronically arranged, multi-lingually researched history of the triolet verse form appearing in any language whatsoever. This monograph is, furthermore, unique in that it is not only a work of literary history, but, by keeping the focus on geographic location as well as on elements of prosody such as rhyme and meter, it is a history of a language process, of how a poetic form adapts itself to the different languages which adopt it and how geography can combine with history and culture to create the acceptance or non-acceptance of an item representative of foreign culture.
