並列タイトル等Mapping of snow water equivalent in plains using RADARSAT-SAR : A case study in the Chuetsu District of the Niigata Prefecture of Japan
一般注記type:text
研究概要:The objective of the study is to develop an algorithm to estimate areal snow physical quantities in the area of heavy and wet snowfall in Japan using a all-weather and high-resolution microwave sensor, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), and to clarify its accuracy and effectiveness. A case study was made in the Chuetsu District of the Niigata Prefecture of Japan, where is well known for very heavy and wet snow. The study included the acquisition of more than 20 RADARSAT-SAR images and ground-based snow-pit observations synthesized with each acquisition. The study showed it possible to classify snow water equivalent, a most important hydrological parameter for snow, into three to four levels including no-snow level, in plain paddy fields with C-band SAR images. The effect of other main snow physical parameters on the algorithm was also discussed.
