一般注記In this study, we improve the light-harvesting efficiency of inverted organic solar cell (OSCs) through the combination of gold quantum dots (AuQDs) and grating-coupled surface plasmon resonance (GC-SPR). The constructed solar device comprises an ITO-coated glass substrate/titanium dioxide/poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl):phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester)/poly(3,4ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate):AuQDs/silver grating structure. The AuQDs are introduced into the hole transport layer (PEDOT:PSS) to increase the absorption in the ultraviolet (UV) light and near-UV light regions, which give rise to the light harvesting improvement of the devices in accordance to fluorescence. The plasmonic grating structures are created onto the active layer surface by nanoimprinting method using a PDMS stamp to induce the GC-SPR excitation within the devices. The UV-visible spectra, impedance spectra, current density versus voltage (J-V) characteristics, and atomic force microscopy images of the fabricated devices are investigated. The fluorescence from AuQDs incorporated into the GC-SPR evanescent field on the metal grating surface improves the short-circuit current density (Jsc) and the power conversion efficiency (PCE) in comparison to those of the reference cell and the cells with individual effects from AuQDs and metallic grating structures. The designed device shows an enhancement of photovoltaic efficiency achieved by increasing a PCE value from 3.25% (reference cell) to 3.77%, exhibiting an efficiency increase of 16%. Our results suggest that the improved efficiency of the inverted OSCs is achieved due to the combination of both G-AuQDs and GC-SPR.
