Summary: "This book provides an in depth analysis of global governance integration and institutional innovation. Processes of governance integration-the convergence of approaches and activities among different actors within one or between two or more governance architectures - are a key yet under researched feature of twenty-first century climate and energy governance. International bureaucracies active in both fields have increasingly aligned with the goals of the climate convention and, more recently, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Offering conceptual analysis and three in-depth case studies, this book shows that rather than the result of a designed strategy or top-down plan, governance integration between the two fields has come as the result of organizational changes arising from the international bureaucracies' various efforts to pursue and broaden their mandate in a complex and dynamic global policy environment.
