瓦といえば陶製の粘土瓦を指すが、金属の瓦、すなわち銅瓦と鉛瓦があることは意外と知られていない。名古屋城や日光東照宮の銅瓦、金沢城と瑞龍寺の鉛瓦があるが、ここでは金沢城の鉛瓦について、発掘調査出土鉛瓦と伝世資料の鉛瓦を検討し、手間がかかる銅瓦葺きを例に概観した。そして蛍光X 線分析から鉛の純度が97%...
