- A summary is given of the research on Langmuir-Blodgett films concerning the molecular electronics aiming at the utilization of phenomena characteristic of molecules or molecular domains in electronics. Background of the concepts of molecular electronics, molecular electronic devices and biochipis is briefly touched upon. Examples of the research are shown with respect to the prerequisites of the advance in molecular electronics: 1) development of novel molecular species, 2) Extention of the molecular assembly technique, 3) Characterization of molecular domains, and 4) Search for device functions.
