- The period for protecting a copyright of movies was extended to 70 years after the publication according to Section 54(1) of the Amended Copyright Act effective on January 1, 2004 (for 50 years before the amendment). This case is, in the request for injunction from the plaintiff based on this amendment, the request was rejected for the reason that the copyright for 50 years of the subject movie titled "Shane" as made public in 1953 expired on December 31, 2003 and lapsed as of January 1, 2004
