江戸後期の国学者・歌人の小寺清之（きよゆき）（１７７０〜１８４３）が、神職の成り立ちについて、資料を引用しながら解説した著作。本書は文政元年（１８１８）に田中宋栄堂から出版された版本。巻頭には、文化１５年（１８１８）の小寺清先（きよさき）（１７４８〜１８２７）と文政元年の関藤方彦の序文があり、「大むね」と題する清之の自序がある。小寺清之は、備中国小田郡笠岡村（現笠岡市笠岡）稲荷社の祀官で国学者・歌人の小寺清先の長男。京都に出て神道・国学・和歌を学び、３０歳の時帰郷して、父のあとを継いだ。　（文責：岡山県立図書館）
