前書きによると、明治４１年（１９０８）５月、池ヶ原（現津山市池ヶ原）の地方政治家・郷土史家大岡熊次郎忠成（１８４２〜１９２０）が、小椋万次郎のもとめに応じて梶並（かじなみ）村（現勝田町梶並）の歴史をまとめたもの。「勝田郡梶並村沿革史」と題する表題は、のちに熊次郎の長男大岡忠友（１８７３〜１９４２）が付けたものと考えられる。美作国郡の名前の由来や分離統合のいきさつ、鎌倉時代、足利氏及織田氏時代、太閤秀吉時代、徳川幕府時代、明治の制度改革の項目にわけて梶並村の歴史を記している。その後へ「梶並庄」と題する一文を入れ、最後に本書作成のための参考資料を書き上げている。（文責：岡山県立図書館）
