大正１３年（１９２４）に起きた勝田郡吉野村大字美野（現勝央町）の村社美野神社を郷社に昇格させる請願運動に関する資料を、池ケ原（現津山市池ケ原）の大岡忠友が１冊に綴じたもの。明治４年（１８７１）の太政官布告によって神社の格付けが行われることになり、全国の神社は大・中・小の官幣社、別格官幣社、大・中・小の国弊社、府県・郷・村および無格社に格付けされた。社格制度は昭和２１年（１９４６）廃止。美野神社を昇格させるための県庁への陳情書、神社の沿革に関する文書や写真、氏子総代から大岡忠友宛の書状などがまとめられている。（文責：岡山県立図書館）
