• Summary, etc.: We identified the knowledge of local people about plant species and determined specific conservation areas for land and water conservation purposes. The study was conducted at the sacred natural site <I>Kabuyutan Panghulu Gusti</I> (KPG) in Ciomas Village in Indonesia. We used the participant observation method to obtain cultural information. The results revealed that 130 plant species, dominated by tree species (69.2%), were found and recognized as having conservation functions that would be useful in the totally 15 conservation areas. We established a conservation area map to implement conservation strategies, and suggested to strengthen the custodian's role as the primary manager.; 本研究ではインドネシア西ジャワの自然の聖地，Ciomas Village に位置する Kabuyutan Panghulu Gusti (KPG) を対象に，植物種に対する地元住民の知識を把握し，水土保全のための保全地域を明らかにした。地元住民は全体の 69.2％を占める樹木を含む130 種類の植物について認識しており，関連する15 箇所を保全地域することが有効であることがわかった。また，今後の保全戦略の策定において必要な地域の地図化を行い，保護地の管理者として監守人の役割が重要であることを示した。
