研究概要：多くの生物が約24 時間周期の体内時計（概日時計）を持つが、干満の周期（約12.4 時間）に合わせた概潮汐時計の研究は少ない。本研究により、干潮時にマングローブ林の林床で活動するマングローブスズ（バッタ目）が、約12.6 時間周期の概潮汐時計を持つことが明らかとなった。また、多くの生物が光によって概日時計を調整するように、マングローブスズは上げ潮への接触によって概潮汐時計を調節し、野外の干満に活動を合わせていることが明らかとなった。
