研究概要：この研究は、「自己決定」の原理を理論的かつ実証的に検討したものであり、\n実証的には、医療従事者の自己決定認識に関して医師や看護師を対象にアンケート調査を行い、\n理論的には、思想史における自己決定概念の系譜を探索するとともに自己決定の現状を批判的に分析した。こうした調査・探索・分析が総合的にあきらかにしたのは、自己決定は、原理的にいって、（他者をしりぞける）「「私」の自己決定」と（他者をとりこむ）「「私たち」の自己決\n定」の両者が錯綜したものであるということであり、こうした考察をふまえて、私たち人間が\n（「私」でも「私たち」でもあるという）社会的自我であることを、自己決定が有意義なもので\nあるための前提となる自由の理念（「私-たち」の自由）として提起した。
