研究概要：沖縄県における大腿骨近位部骨折の発生件数を調査し、発生に関与する因子について多面的な調査を行った。特に80歳以上の高齢の受傷者では内科的合併症を有する者が多く、また2/3に認知症の合併も認められた。骨粗鬆症性骨折の既往を認める者も多く、認知症を有するが故に有効な骨折予防対策を講じることができず、骨折を繰り返し、寝たきりになる構図が考えられた。高齢化社会を迎え、大腿骨近位部骨折に対する予防対策は今後ますます重要になると思われるが、この問題には認知症の問題が大きく係わっており、認知症対策と連携して対策を講じる必要があると考えられた。
