Note (General): 本研究では，パラオハイスクールの理科授業で用いられていたワークシートなど入手可能な資料や現地調査の結果をIntended Education（意図された教育），Implemented Education（適用された教育），Achieved Education（獲得された教育）へ整理し，パラオ共和国での理科教育の実態の一片を把握した。その結果，パラオ共和国内に教員養成課程をもつ高等教育機関がなく，初等中等教育を担う人材に求められる資質・能力に明確な基準がないことに加えて教育全体の目標や理科の単位数はあるが，理科で何をどのように児童生徒へ学ばせるのかということまでは定められていなかったことがIntended Educationとして整理された。高等教育を経ていない教員も多く存在し，質の高い教員の採用体制が未構築であることと，Lesson Plan（教育内容）は，各授業担当教員が決定し，教科書やワークシートは英語版を用いており，テストも英語で出題・解答されていたことがImplemented Education に挙げられた。また，各種テストの結果から児童生徒の学力が高くはないと判断されていることがAchieved Education として整理された。一方，学力測定に用いられているテストの内容と教育課程，指導内容・方法や児童生徒の英語の語学力との関係を明らかにすることや，より多くのパラオ共和国における理科教育実践を観察する必要性があることが課題として示唆された。
