入門用IoT機器であるSony社製MESHを用いての学生対象のワークショップの開催、学生による高度なIoTシステムの開発、児童生徒対象のワークショップの開催を計画していた。学生対象のワークショップでは、情報システム学科の１年生および２年生の希望者を対象に、MESHとスマートフォン・タブレット端末を用いた簡単なIoTシステム、たとえば部屋が明るくなったらブザーが鳴る、ドアが開いたらメールが届くといったシステムを作成した。ただ、高度なIoTシステムを開発するために利用予定だったMESH SDKが調査の結果、能力不足でやりたいことができないことが判明した。そこで、センサとPCとの間をつなぐインタフェースとして利用可能なハードウェアを設計し、その試作品によりワークショップに利用可能であり、高度なIoTシステム開発も行えることも確認した。
