新総合事業のサービスに位置付けられた住民主体型活動を行っている高齢代表者を対象に、活動への意識と活動過程についてインタビュー調査を行った。活動開始時のきっかけや主体性への意識によって、活動スタッフの減少がみられた。しかし、活動を継続していく中で意識は変化し、「活動を継続する自信」「やりがい」「生きがい」「責任感」「地域の活性化への貢献」を感じていた。また、活動過程での困難として、「活動場所探し」と「活動内容」があった。住民主体型活動の活性化のためには、自治体が活動立ち上げ支援を行う際に住民主体型活動の支援であることを十分に説明すること、②階段昇降やトイレへの移動に配慮した活動場所の選定、③活動内容の情報提供や情報交換の機会を提供することが重要である。
