平面グラフのホモロジー群およびコホモロジー群から得られる幾何学的対象の不変量を調べ，トーリックイデアルからホモロジー群からは得ることができない，図形の特徴量を測る方法を考案した．従来の位相幾何学は図形を大雑把に分類するものであるが，このような図形の性質を用いた応用トポロジーという分野が存在する．特に，トポロジカルデータサイエンスの分野は今後のAI技術に対する影響も考えられるため，情報科学の分野としても重要であると考えられるため，従来の位相幾何学とは異なる切り口で図形の特徴量を算出し，大雑把な図形の分類に加えて，詳細な図形の特徴量の差異を測ることができる概念が必要であると考えられる．本研究の成果は，平面グラフのトーリックイデアルを考えることで，従来から知られているホモロジー群の特徴量を簡潔に計算できるだけでなく，ホモロジー群では得ることができない図形の特徴量を定義できることを示した．さらに，ホモロジー群だけでなく，コホモロジー群を計算することでさらに図形の持つ特徴量を開拓するための準備を進めることができた．
