近年，栄養塩を多く含む生活排水や薬品などが湖沼やダム湖に流入することによるアオコの発生が深刻な問題となっている．アオコの発生を抑制する効果的な対策を講じるためには，その原因を特定する必要がある．本研究では，データ分析を用いてさまざまな要因からダム湖のアオコ発生を推定した．このとき，アオコ発生の原因となるミクロキスティスを目的変数，アオコ発生に関連があるとされる水温，pH，全リン，全窒素，硝酸，渦鞭毛藻類の発生量，流量を説明変数とした．また，ミクロキスティスの推定には，サポートベクトル回帰分析，ランダムフォレスト，類似度を用いる三つの方法を用いてそれぞれ検証した．
