Note (General): We have constructed a new experimental setup for measuring stimulated emission from metal halide films. Two different photo-excitation geometries are employed, namely, square-shape variable lengths of 〓300μm. In the stripe-shape excitation with a width of ~30μm. In the stripe-shape excitation, two sylindrical lenses off=+500mm, spaced by 50mm, are used to uniformly irradiate a slit of width 50μm and length 1500μm. An N2-gas laser light passing through the slit is made a near-parallel beam of dimension about 15mm x 15mm by a spherical lens off=+500mm and then incident on a spherical lens off=+100mm to project the image (width, 10μm; length, 300μm) of the surface (surface luminescence, 45o back scattering) of the sample can be measured simultaneously. With this set up, many new results on the stimulated emission from metal halide films are obtained, parts of which are described in the present report.
