Note (General): 鉄鋼材料の機械的諸性質を評価する手法のひとつとして,光学顕微鏡による組織画像上で結晶粒度の大小を測定する方法が用いられているが,現在のところ粒度分布を求めるための領域分割処理は人手によって行われており,その自動化が求められている.そこで本論文では,watershed法を基本アルゴリズムとして利用し,過分割の問題および組織画像における境界線の消失や途切れによって生じる領域の誤統合を抑えるため,電気回路シミュレーションに基づく特殊なエッジ補間・強調処理を併用した領域分割アルゴリズムを提案する.提案手法を3種類の組織画像に適用して有効性を検証した結果,比較的明確な境界線で囲まれた組織画像に対しては非常に良好な領域分割結果が得られることを確認した. Grain size analysis for microscopic images has been used as an evaluation technique for the mechanical strength of steel materials. The measurement of grain size distribution requires a segmentation for crystalline granularity, and is currently done manually by specialists. This paper hence proposes an automatic segmentation technique for crystalline granularity based on the watershed algorithm. To alleviate oversegmentation problem and suppress errorneous region merging due to broken edges, a novel edge interpolatin and enhancement technique based on electric-circuit simulation, which has been proposed by one of the authors, is used together with the watershed algorithm. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed algorithm offers precise segmentation results for those images with relatively clear boundaries of regions.
