Note (General): 本稿では非共軸なCherenkov位相整合法をもちいたテラヘルツ(THz)波の電気光学(EO)サンプリング技術について紹介する。従来用いられていた共軸(THz波とサンプリング光波が平行に伝搬する)なEOサンプリングに対して,Cherenkov位相整合法による非共軸なEOサンプリングでは利用できるEO結晶の種類とサンプリング光波の波長の自由度が大幅に拡がる。またCherenkov位相整合法に基づく“ヘテロダインEOサンプリング"は,EO効果によるサンプリング光波の強度変化を直接検出するので,偏光制御素子が不要となり,EOサンプリングにおける検出光学系が大幅に簡便化される。
