Note (General): 神経ネットワーク形成・成熟過程は知能獲得の実態であり、その分子・細胞レベルでの解明は、脳機能異常を伴う諸疾患の根本的な原因究明につながり、また「教育」を科学的に解明しうる糸口としても大いに注目を浴びている。しかしながら、現状では実際の脳内で3次元的にどのように回路が構築され働くかの解明がほとんどなされていない。そこで、生体の深部を観察可能とする多光子顕微鏡の開発を小型化が可能なイッテルビウム系の超短パルスレーザーを光源としてすすめ、その顕微鏡を用い、神経ネットワーク形成に関わる機構を分子・細胞レベルも含め解明することを複数年で予定した。初年度である本年は、レーザーのパルス幅の先鋭化及び要素技術の研究開発を行い、新たなシナプス形成機構の同定、神経可塑性へのグリア細胞の関与を明らかとした。
