21世紀における都市の魅力
20世紀末より急速に進展したグローバリゼーションに伴い、政界各地の都市で多文化化・多民族化が進行した。こうした状況はさまざまな摩擦・社会問題を引き起こしているが、他方で社会に新たな活力ももたらしている。2005年度の学長特別研究(「オーストラリアの都市におけるエスニック文化の多様性」)に引き続き、2006年度の本研究は、21世紀の都市の魅力を考える上でその文化的多元性を積極的に捉える視点は欠かせないという立場を取る。多文化主義の政策が進展しているオーストラリアを事例に、都市における文化的多元性のあり方について考察することが本研究の目的である。
