近年、急速に変動しつつある韓国の地方地域社会(これまで開発が後発であった「忠清南道唐津郡」)を対象として、韓国社会の現代的変貌における土着文化と儒教文化とがいかに変容し、いかなる適応をとっているかについて明らかにする。そのため、忠清南道唐津郡の両班村落(農村)と非両班村落(沿岸漁村)とを対象村落として選定し、村落レベルにおける儒教的大伝統の受容の差異がいかなる異同を生じているかを実証的に検証する。
