2000年からインドネシアで開始された地方分権下のバリにおいて、それまで政策の対象から除外されてきた社会主義舞踊やプンティンとよばれる芸能と、除祓儀礼の復興におけるワヤンの変容について調査を行ってきた。その結果、ともに民衆レベルの文化復興運動や地方政府の文化復興政策の中で復興しつつも、大きな変容をとげたことを明らかにした。
Revivals of Balinese performing arts, socialist dance, penting, and wayang in ritual of Purification, were conducted research under decentralization of Indonesia from 2000. As a result, it was clear that two performing arts were transformed significantly under revival movement of culture in grass-root level, and cultural policy by local goverment.
