小学校における教育への動物活用は近年，アレルギーへの懸念や学校閉庁日の設定，温熱環境の厳しさなど，新たな課題に直面している。しかし動物活用の教育効果に実感を得ている学校においては，実施する教育に適応させた空間整備状況がみられる。また近年では教育支援動物による教育プログラムを伴う訪問型の関わりなど新たな動向もある。それら多様な展開を視野に入れ，今日の教育現場の状況に即した動物活用に関わる教育空間の整備が必要である。本研究は，小学校における動物の教育への活用に際して，建築・空間的観点から調査・研究することを通じて，小学校での動物に関連する環境構築・空間整備の在り方の指針を見出すことを目的とする。
