本研究は、福祉衣料の着用快適性を素材性能から客観的に評価するシステムの確立を目標とする。ここでは、福祉衣料として、寝たきり高齢者・乳幼児用紙おむつと、枕・床ずれマット、浴室マットなどのクッション材料の性能設計に着目する。福祉衣料の着用快適性としては、皮膚に接したときの肌触りやタッチのよさ、熱・空気・水分移動を通しての人の熱バランスとの適合性を取り上げる。まず、素材性能や素材構成の系統的に異なる試料を用いて福祉衣料の着用快適性に関する評価を行なって、総合的な着用快適性に寄与する要因を明確にする。そして、繊維集合体の基本的な性質と着用快適性との関係を明確にして、素材設計へフィードバックすることを目的とする。また、床ずれ防止マット・滑り防止マットなどのクッション材料について、繊維集合体の基本的な性質と着用快適性との関係を明確にし、より広範囲の福祉機器・素材の開発に資する技術的方途の提案を企図する。
