新世紀に入るも内外の経済学界は混迷状態にある。とくにわが日本は、2011年3月発生の東日本大震災という国難を迎えている。ここで「温故知新」、つまり「古きことから新しき意味を引き出すことが、我々にとって重要な責務であろう。本稿においては、今や学界でほとんど忘れられた感のある「ヒックス・森嶋アプローチ」を再び取り上げることによって、多数市場の間の相互連欄への今ひとつの視角をあらためて再検討したい。森嶋通夫先生の初期の業績は、Ｊ・Ｒ・ヒックスの著作『価値と資本』（初版1939年、二版1946年）を先生流に一層発展させたものであったし、私自身について言えば、その学位論文（1972年）は両先学の著作を私なりに咀嚼展開したものと言える。森嶋先生は比較的近著『無資源国の経済学』（1984年）の中で、複数個の超過需要曲線の相互依存関係に基づくヒックス・森嶋アプローチの復権を試みられたが、学界の反応はいまいちであったようだ。私はそういう事情を踏まえつつ、上記のアプローチを今一度採用し、その中で一般均衡の不安定性、非存在、複数均衡などの諸々の「変則事態」の再検討を行うとともに、パラメータ変化に関する比較静学的結果を視覚的に導出しようと思う。そのことを通じて、ヒックス・森嶋アプローチの有用性と将来への発展可能性が自ずから明らかになるだろうと願っている。
