- P(論文)本書は,英語の名詞について,数える際に用いられるグループターム(group term),日本語でいえば助数詞に相当する集合名語の網羅的なコロケーションである。本書は2部構成になっている。第1部では,どのグループタームにどのような名詞が付くのか,第2部では個々の名詞について,その語がどのグループタームに所属するのかを取り扱っている。「もの」に名称を与え,それをどのようにまとめるか,あるいは,数えるかはそれぞれの言語によつて異なる。それは独自の言語を使用する人達の独自の文化にほかならないからである。なお,本書のグループターム(313語),グループタームに結びつく名詞(2,134語)は,英文で書かれた文学作品,新聞・雑誌,各種のパンフレットや英語辞典などから,長年に亙りその折々に採取したものである。
