Note (General): 「歴史認識」問題は、東アジアの国際関係における一つの重要な焦点であり、日本国内の政治問題から国際問題に発展してきた。台湾を含む東アジア諸国ではどこでも歴史認識問題が存在しているが、それを「歴史認識」の名目で扱われることはなかった。そのため、台湾における歴史認識問題は、専ら日本の歴史認識問題を指すことになった。こうした状況から、東アジアの歴史認識に関する議論は、日本を中心として論じられ、その文脈も日本と密接な関連性を持つ。台湾の歴史認識、歴史教育がグローバル・スタンダードな立場に立ち、東アジア諸国との協力を求めることには多大な可能性がまだ残っている。どの国においても、歴史教科書は以下の二つの働きを持っている。すなわち、過去と現代の間に一種の「記憶」のつながりを提供し、公認の歴史叙述を伝達する一方、現代社会の需要に基づいて過去を書き換える。こうした歴史教科書に見られる偏見、差別、ステレオタイプを解消することは、歴史遺産から脱却する大きな手助けとなり、国境を越えた歴史教科書の共同編纂や東アジア歴史認識についての共同研究は、この種の歴史遺産を打破するインパクトであり、平和教育に対する具体的な実践にほかならない。
